Advanced Leadership for Academics and Professionals
Advanced Leadership for Academics and Professionals (ALAP) is a program designed for faculty and professionals in leadership positions at our institution as a way to support their ongoing development. Emphasis is placed on exploring the UF Leadership/Management Competency structure and how it can be applied effectively to support leadership in our higher education setting.
The program lasts over the course of the year (participants meet 6 times, 1 to 2 days each time) and includes 360-degree and other assessments, guest speakers, facilitated discussions, case studies, assigned readings, and activities, including group project(s). An important element of the program is access to key leaders at UF.
The program includes two tracks—one for academic leaders and the other for professionals (assistant director and above). Approximately 20 faculty and professionals (10 per track) are selected each year via a competitive application process. This program also is appropriate for those making the “academic” to “administrator” transition.
Advanced Leadership for Academics and Professionals participants are selected via a competitive application process. The 2011 application period is now closed.
