Discover Your Leadership Potential: UF Academy accepting applications for 2009-2010

UF Training and Organizational Development is pleased to announce a call for applications to join the UF Academy for 2009-2010. Applications to participate are being accepted from July 20 through close of business on August 28.

FRS Legislation Update

The Florida Legislature considered several pieces of legislation affecting the Florida Retirement System (FRS) during its 2009 session.

New policy requires protective equipment when riding motorcycles, scooters, Segways, and bicycles

In pursuit of more sustainable processes, University of Florida departments are looking at alternate methods of transportation such as scooters, bicycles, and Segways. 

UF employees may self-identify Veterans Status

All UF employees have an opportunity to self-identify their Veterans Status based on the new U.S. Department of Labor definitions.


Employee Education Program accepting applications for the fall semester

The Employee Education Program (EEP) is a popular benefit available to eligible UF faculty and staff. The program provides tuition assistance for up to six credit hours of eligible college-level courses per semester.


Reset, Refocus: Attend “Be Your Best” Training this July

During July, UF Training and Organizational Development will offer workshops that provide an opportunity to focus on personal development as a step toward being more effective.

 

Second Annual Gator Charity Challenge

The University of Florida football team is preparing to hold its second annual Gator Charity Challenge event on Friday, July 31, at 6:30 p.m. at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.


Federal Minimum Wage increased to $7.25 beginning July 24
Workers in the state of Florida will see a minimum wage increase from $7.21 to $7.25 per hour beginning July 24.
Electronic Effort Certification: NEW spring 2009 semester reporting
Beginning July 6, 2009, departments will enter all effort for the Spring 2009 term.
Registration for fall training opens August 3
Please note changes to computer application training availability
UF recognized for mentoring program
The University of Florida will receive the Business Mentor of the Year Award at the 2009 Ability Awards hosted by The Florida Governor’s Alliance for the Employment of Citizens with Disabilities (The Able Trust).
Alternate parking available at the 310 eastside campus office building during construction period
Training participants attending sessions at the Bridges Computer Lab, located at 2008 N.E. Waldo Road, should park in a designated temporary parking area due to construction on the UF Eastside Campus.
