Employment Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) valid for use beyond June 30

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that the Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9 (rev. 02/02/09) currently on the USCIS website will continue to be valid for use beyond the noted expiration date of June 30, 2009. USCIS has requested that the Office of Management and Budget approve the continued use of the current Form I-9.

New regulation provides additional flexibility for making staffing decisions

Recently, UF Regulation 6C1-1.017 was revised to provide additional flexibility with the management of staffing decisions in the current budgetary climate.

 

Fringe Benefits Pool rates now effective

Written approval has been received from the Department of Health and Human Services for the fringe benefit pool rates to go into effect the pay period ending July 9.

 

Departments may now enter effort reporting for spring 2009

Effort must be reported each semester for anyone who worked in an academic department, on a grant, or as a faculty member. 

 

Federal minimum wage increases July 24

The minimum hourly rate for employees appointed to FWSP, OPSN, STAS, and STBW salary plans is currently $7.21. 

 

Florida bill revises termination and reemployment requirement for some FRS participants

The Florida Legislature considered several pieces of legislation affecting the Florida Retirement System during its 2009 session. 

 

Review listings for printed UF Directory by July 20

University Relations is gathering information for the 2009-10 printed Campus Telephone Directory and has asked departments to carefully review listings in last year's Directory and forward any changes.

 

Appointments for GatorGradCare enrollees must be entered by August 28

The Graduate Assistant Benefits Office will review the myUFL system for GatorGradCare enrollee eligibility criteria after drop/add ends on August 28. 

 

Ensure GatorGradCare enrollees maintain valid mailing addresses in myUFL system

In preparation for the GatorGradCare eligibility verification process that will take place in late August and early September, students should review their mailing addresses to make sure the address information is valid and listed correctly.

 

Faculty and staff travel limited to activities critical to UF mission

Because of current economic challenges to the university's budget, the University of Florida's travel policies have been aligned with restrictions recently placed on state agencies in Florida.

 

Early terminations and medical withdrawals for GatorGradCare enrollees

GatorGradCare enrollees who terminate or apply for a medical withdrawal prior to the end of their employment contract should contact the Graduate Assistant Benefits Office as soon as possible to ensure they receive information regarding their GatorGradCare coverage.
