ePAF training now underway

Human Resource Services has begun training department administrators on the new electronic Personnel Action Forms (ePAFs) that will replace the university’s current processes for entering personnel actions. These ePAFs are more intuitive and much shorter—generally 1 to 3 pages as compared to the 12 pages required in the past. As information is entered, the data entry fields are limited to only applicable choices, thus reducing the possibility of errors. The new ePAFs are automatically routed throughout the approval process—from originator to Level 1 approver to Level 2 approver.

Return appraisal forms to HRS by March 31

UF’s new performance management initiative is now underway. Supervisors should be in the process of appraising their TEAMS and USPS employees and using the new appraisal form www.hr.ufl.edu/performance.

During this time of transition, please remember to:

  • Discuss the new appraisal system with your employees. Make sure they know about the five criteria on which their performance will be evaluated.
  • Begin scheduling appraisal interviews.
  • Give employees the self-assessment page for completion prior to the interview.
  • Attach the position description to the annual appraisals for non-exempt TEAMS employees and all USPS employees.
  • Use a narrative format, generally a letter written to the employee, for all exempt TEAMS employees’ appraisals. A position description does not need to be attached when submitted.
  • If an employee has received an appraisal since March 1, 2005, you will only be evaluating the time between the last appraisal and February 28, 2006.
  • Probationary appraisals for non-exempt TEAMS employees and all USPS employees should be completed as usual. The performance appraisal rating period is the same as the probationary period. The probationary performance appraisal should be completed and presented to the employee within the last 30 days of the rating period.

If you still have not attended training, a few opportunities remain. To register, visit Training and Development click “Register for Courses Now!” and select one of the following sessions (course number GET150):
