Registration for summer training opens May 8
Mark your calendar! Registration for Training and Organizational
Development’s summer schedule will open at 8 a.m. on May 8.
Courses offered will include computer application training, myUFL
workshops, the Supervisory Challenge, and more. To register, log
on to myUFL and
follow the links to “My Self-Service,” and “Training
and Development.”
Employees celebrate 35 years
On Monday, March 13, UF President J. Bernard Machen and Vice President
Kyle J. Cavanaugh hosted a lunch to honor employees with 35 years
of service to the University of Florida. See who was honored on
HRS's web site.

Submit 2005 reimbursement account
claim forms by April 17
Employees who participated in a medical or dependent care reimbursement
account during 2005 must submit claims by April 17, 2006. Claims
may be made for money spent on medical or dependent care expenses
during 2005.

Employees must report
2005-06 compensatory leave by May 28
All non-exempt employees as well as exempt USPS employees may
use overtime and special compensatory leave through the end of the
fiscal year—June 30—but it must be reported by 5 p.m.
on Sunday, May 28.

Fifty children
of TEAMS employees to receive tuition assistance
The fourth annual Higher Education Opportunity (HEO) drawing ceremony
was held on Monday, March 27. Fifty names were drawn at random from
101 eligible applicants to receive the HEO benefit, which provides
in-state tuition assistance for children of TEAMS employees.

9- and 10-month employees
will not see deductions during summer; coverage not affected
12-month employees' Jefferson Pilot, AIG deductions
to lapse without impact to coverage
Employees participating in UF-sponsored insurance plans will notice
a temporary increase in take-home pay over the summer because of
the lack of insurance deductions for some UF-sponsored plans. Based
on your appointment status, your deduction cycle for these university-sponsored
plans will vary.

Open enrollment
for adoption benefits currently underway
Open enrollment for UF’s adoption benefits program began
April 3 and will continue through May 31. Academic Personnel, TEAMS,
and USPS employees who have adopted a child on or after October
1, 2000, can apply if permanent custody of the child has been awarded
by the Department of Children and Family Services or a Florida-licensed
child placement agency.

Baby Gator now accepting applications
for Summer VPK
Baby Gator Child Development and Research Center at UF is now
accepting applications for its Summer Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten
(VPK) program, which provides 300 hours of kindergarten preparation
overseen by well-qualified, degreed teachers in a warm, nurturing,
developmentally-appropriate environment. Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten
programs are supported by the state of Florida and offered to residents
at no cost.
