Program Eligibility
To be eligible to participate in the Employee Education Program, employees must meet the following criteria;
- Must be a full-time UF employee classified as TEAMS, USPS, or Academic Personnel (including post-docs if they are receiving state health benefits through their department).
- This program is not available to OPS, part-time personnel, or employees assigned to temporary, visiting, or probationary appointments. Therefore, graduate assistants, residents, and some academic personnel members are not eligible to participate.
- Employees must be in good standing with their department.
- Employed for at least six months with the University in one of the above categories (not OPS). Calculation of six month window begins on date of hire and ends on the fee deadline date for the semester of enrollment.
- Employees must meet academic requirements (for the enrolling institution) for admission as a degree or non-degree seeking student.
- USPS and Academic Personnel employees are not eligible to use the EEP to enroll at a public community college or vocational technical center.
- The state university or community college/vocational technical center (TEAMS only) the employee attends must be the closest one to his or her work location.
EEP Course Selection
This program does not permit enrollment in:
- Thesis, dissertation, internships, directed individual study, individual performance courses, non-credit courses, sponsored-credit courses, off-book programs, correspondence courses, and some distance education course offerings.
For students enrolling at UF, you may determine if the courses for which you are registering are approved for the EEP by.
- Visit the Office of the University Registrar Schedule of Courses page.
- Once here, click on the course listings link under the term you are interested in taking courses.
- There is a column titled "EEP" in the course listings, if you see a "Y" indicated for that course and section in the "EEP" column that means the course is covered.
- You can also click on the link titled "Web Courses" and this will show you all courses offered via the online option.
For students attending community colleges, the courses must be for credit and must still meet the criteria listed above.
For students attending another state university, the EEP application must be signed by the enrolling university registrar and must meet the criteria listed above.
Course Scheduling and Time Worked
Eligible employees may apply for enrollment in up to six (6) credit hours per semester each fall and spring semester, as well as three (3) credit hours per condensed summer semester totaling no more than six (6) credit hours combined over the summer semesters.
Employees are expected to register for courses which do no conflict with their work schedule and time spent in class is not considered time worked. Supervisors/Division Heads may allow an employee to take courses during their normally scheduled work hours by using leave or flex time however it is up to the discretion of the Supervisor/Division Head.
