This is work coordinating construction, renovation, and/or maintenance projects.

Examples of Work (not all inclusive)
Reviews engineering plans, available standards, historical data, and accepted trade practices to estimate material and labor required to complete minor construction and renovation projects, maintenance projects and major repair jobs.
Develops sequential work completion outlines and schedules. Confers with superintendents and supervisors to outline project plans and to assist them in developing detailed work schedules.
Consults and coordinates with Physical Plant units and other University departments concerning customer requirements and/or problems.
Provides office and field technical assistance in problem areas on assigned projects.
Maintains cost records showing current cost, availability of materials, and current cost analysis for estimates of proposed projects.
Inspects buildings or other structures which may include but not be limited to roads, walkways, and other paved areas, electrical, structural, and mechanical systems, plumbing, boilers, utilities, and related equipment for work completed or needed.
Prepares uniform inspection guides and checklists to assure that established levels of maintenance are attained.
Details deficiencies and makes recommendations for necessary repairs or replacement. Prepares work orders as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in a recognized trade and appropriate experience to total six years; or a high school diploma and six years of appropriate experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

FIRE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC

Inspects all types of fire extinguishers and hoses to verify usability on a monthly basis.
Inspects, installs, repairs, recharges, and services all types of fire extinguishers.
Performs hydrostatic low pressure (less than 900 psi) water, water chemical, and dry chemical tests and high pressure carbon dioxide tests.
Installs and inspects all types of pre engineered fire extinguishing systems.
Performs annual maintenance and inspections of all types of fire extinguishers and hoses to issue a new inspection tag.
Performs the six-year maintenance and re-certification of all extinguishers including carbon dioxide units for the assigned inspection route.
Operates hydrostatic high pressure (up to 10,000 psi) testing machine and shop equipment.

Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma and two years of appropriate experience. Possession of valid Class I and Class IV permits issued by the State Fire Marshal in accordance with Section 633.061, Florida Statutes.* Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
