Bus Transportation

Present a valid Gator 1 faculty or staff ID card and ride RTS buses free of charge. For routes and schedules, visit the RTS web site or call 334-2600.

Child Care Facilities

KinderCare and Baby Gator child care centers both are National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accredited.

Baby Gator
Baby Gator, part of the Office of Human Resource Services, is the University of Florida’s Educational Research Center for Child Development. It offers a high quality preschool and infant/toddler center for children of students, staff, and faculty of the university. The multi-cultural, multi-lingual curriculum is designed to encourage children to explore and experience the world around them. In addition, Baby Gator provides research and training opportunities for students and faculty members investigating topics in early childhood.

KinderCare
UF’s KinderCare is located at the corner of Museum Road and Village Drive, directly across the street from Lake Alice. The Center is licensed for 164 children, ages 6 weeks to 12 years. KinderCare is open 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.Programs offered include Infant, Toddler and Preschool Care; Kindergarten programs; After School programs; Summer Camp; and Hooked on Phonics. Part-time as well as full-time options are available. KinderCare is nationally accredited through NAC. Cultural Events

The University of Florida is home to a number of cultural venues that bring world-class artistic performances and exhibits to Gainesville.

ACCENT
A student-run speakers’ bureau funded by Student Government brings noteworthy speakers and entertainers to campus. MORE >>

Center for the Performing Arts
A 1,700 seat, state-of-the-art theatre attracts national, international, and local performers each season. Constans Theatre
On the east side of the Reitz Union Colonnade is the Constans Theatre--home to the Florida Players and the University Box Office. Tickets for campus concerts and major entertainment events throughout the southeast may be purchased at the University Box Office, also a TicketMaster outlet. Call 392-1653 for more information.

Florida Museum of Natural History
Serves as the state’s official natural history museum. Located on the corner of Hull Road and 34th Street is Powell Hall, the new 55,000-square-foot education and exhibition center, which houses the permanent and traveling exhibit programs, adult and children’s classes, group tours, and special events. The Gallery
Located on the second floor of the Reitz Union, The Gallery presents works of art by UF students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Admission is free and new shows are featured every month. Visit its web site for further details. MORE >>

Harn Museum of Art
Situated on Hull Road and 34th Street, the museum offers a full range of educational programs for the general public and academic community. The museum store offers quality gifts, art publications, note cards, jewelry, and creative items for children. Museum hours and exhibition details are available on the web or by calling 392-9826. Reitz Union Cinema
Located on the second floor of the Reitz Union, this cinema features movies ranging from independent to foreign to mainstream. Movies now playing and ticket prices are available via the web. MORE >>

University Gallery
An essential component of the teaching, research, and service mission of the School of Art and Art History, the University Gallery is located on the east end of the Fine Arts Campus Complex. Its six exhibitions per year bring current ideas in contemporary art to students and the community. Focus Gallery presents work created by current students of the School of Art and Art History. Discounts to Florida Attractions

  • Silver Springs also provides discounts on annual passes for UF employees and their families. UF employees can purchase an annual pass for $45 or a family pass for $50.99 per individual. Show your Gator1 ID and another photo ID to purchase passes; for the family pass, family members do not need to provide ID. This discount is not available online - passes must be purchased in person at Silver Springs.

Fitness and Recreation

UF offers a wide range of activities--from top-notch SEC sporting events to physical fitness and wellness programs to spectacular retreats for you and your family.

Courts
The university's tennis and basketball are available for your use. At certain times, however, courts are reserved for student, club, or team use only. Locations may be found using the key word "courts" in the online campus map.

Lake Wauburg
This university-owned property, located about eight miles south of the main campus on U.S. 441, offers opportunities for family fun with boating, water skiing, swimming, fishing, and picnicking. Your Gator 1 ID card is needed for free admission.

Living Well
For a minimal cost, you and/or your spouse may join the university's employee physical fitness and wellness program. Administered by the College of Health and Human Performance, Living Well provides physical fitness and health promotion in a state-of-the-art exercise and health club facility. Memberships are available to UF employees, retired employees, and their spouses. Outfitter

Reitz Union Game Room

Stephen C. O'Connell Center
A multipurpose facility used for classes, varsity sports, recreation, and entertainment events. A main arena is home to eight UF intercollegiate athletic teams, and the facility hosts major concerts, trade shows, expos, banquets, and family shows. You and your family are invited to use the center's Olympic size swimming pool, track, and weight rooms during recreational hours. Details are available on the web. University Golf Course

Florida is a founding member of the Southeastern Conference and consistently ranks among the nation's top universities in overall sports achievement. Vita Par Jogging Course
Modeled after the Swiss system of complete conditioning, this course incorporates a running track with a series of 20 exercise stations to give the body a complete workout. The course begins in the parking lot at the Percy Beard Track and winds for almost two miles through woods and lakeshore. The course is always open and available to you and your family and friends.
