Each year, Annual Open Enrollment gives employees an opportunity to take a look at their existing benefit plans to evaluate any anticipated needs and to make adjustments for the upcoming plan year.

How to Enroll or Make Changes during Open Enrollment

State-sponsored benefits:

You will need the user ID and password provided by People First to access your enrollment. If you don’t have a user ID or password, contact the People First Service Center (PFSC) for assistance. Please review the People First password guidelines for more information about an expired or forgotten password.

Open Enrollment Information Sessions

Sessions will be available to help answer any questions you may have. Please register in myUFL using course code GET019. Sessions held in HRS Building, Room 119.

Meet insurance and retirement vendors to learn more about the 2010 plans.  This year there will be food and prizes. Additionally, a transport shuttle courtesy of SHANDS Healthcare will be available for employees that will run from designated campus locations to and from the fair.

Due to high demand for the seasonal flu shot, the Student Health Care Center is currently out of vaccine and is awaiting their next shipment.   As a result, the flu shot will not be available at the Benefits Fair as planned.  Please check the Student Health Care Center’s website at http://shcc.ufl.edu for updates on the vaccine or check with the Alachua County Health Department, Walgreens, or Publix for their availability and schedule on flu shots.   

Important Dates & Mailings

To provide employees with more information about changes for the 2010 plan year, here’s what to expect for key mailings and important dates for Open Enrollment:

Important Dates from the State

Early to mid-September 2009

  • People First will begin mailing participants' benefits statements to home addresses.
  • People First Service Center will be available to provide information and assistance in preparation for Open Enrollment. Now's a good time to review plan information or re-establish your password.

September 14, 2009

  • Open Enrollment begins. Beginning at 8:30 a.m. EST, employees may go online to the People First System to enroll or People First specialists will be available (1-866-663-4735) to assist with elections and changes.

October 9, 2009

  • Open enrollment closes at 5:30 p.m. EST. Confirmation statements are generally mailed shortly after open enrollment to employees who made elections or changes.

October 12 thru 16, 2009
  • People First begins mailing confirmation statements. 

  • * Please note: If you wish to receive  confirmation statements in a timely manner, complete on-line enrollment changes OR submit your paper forms to the People First Service Center within the first couple of weeks of  Open Enrollment.. Paper forms received typically during the last week of Open Enrollment will be processed as soon as possible; however confirmations statements may arrive late, possibly after the correction period has ended.

October 12 - 30, 2009

  • Correction period for changes that were made during Open Enrollment.  Contact the People First Service Center at 1-866-663-4735 to make corrections to any enrollment errors by no later than October 30th at 5:30 p.m. EST.
