Each year, the annual benefits Open Enrollment period gives employees an opportunity to look at their existing benefit plans to evaluate any anticipated needs and to make adjustments for the upcoming plan year.
This year two distinct open enrollment periods will be held based on state- and university-sponsored plans. Changes to your benefits can be made only during the following enrollment periods:
- State-sponsored plans: November 7 - 18, 2011 --- 2 Weeks Only!
- UF-sponsored plans: October 7 - November 18, 2011
Both state and UF Open Enrollment periods will end on November 18, 2011 by 6:00pm EST.

How to Enroll or Make Changes during Open Enrollment
State-sponsored benefits
(November 7 - 18)
- Go online to make changes via the People First web site.
- Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. - Call the People First Service Center (PFSC) at 1-866-663-4735 to enroll or make a change.
- Available Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Speak with a customer service representative to make your selections - Submit a paper enrollment form to the PFSC.
- Available from the People First web site or the People First Service Center.
- Complete, make a copy for yourself, and mail directly to People First or fax to (800) 422-3128
Using the People First web site
Making elections online is easy and means you see the most current information available with night and weekend access to review all your insurance options. Online elections mean no phone hold time or forms to complete and send. You also receive instant confirmation online which you should print to retain as documentation of your OE transaction. Plan to log onto the People First website this Open Enrollment.
Passwords
If you haven’t logged into People First in the last 90 days, you should update your password online before Open Enrollment begins. Once Open Enrollment rolls around, you will be able to log in and make your pretax insurance elections. If your account is locked or you forgot your password, use the Forgot Your Password? link on the People First web site (or visit peoplefirst.myflorida.com) to reset your password and log in.
UF-sponsored benefits
(October 7 - November 18)
- Complete the appropriate UF plan enrollment form located on the HRS web site (look under the Department section / Benefits).
- Mail to: P.O. Box 115007, fax to (352) 392-5166, or take it to the Human Resource Services satellite office nearest you.

Open Enrollment Information Sessions
Sessions will be available to help answer any questions you may have. Please register via the myUFL system using course code GET019. Sessions held in HRS Building, Room 119.
October 26, 9 to 10 a.m.
November 2, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
November 10, 2011 from 8 am -12pm – Avmed Health HMO and Capital Insurance (who represents Cigna & Compbenefits dental, Chlic hospital plan (formerly Alta), AFLAC cancer/intensive care, and the Humana vision plan) representatives will be available in the Reitz Union in room 283 to answer walk in questions about the various plans.
November 10, 2011 from 9 am -12pm – the Gabor Agency representing the Long Term Disability plan will conduct information sessions every 30 minutes – with the first session starting at 9am with the last session beginning at 12:00 noon in the Reitz Union in room 346.
November 14 &15, 2011 at 11am & 11:30 am – Two Long Term Disability information sessions each day – with the first session starting at 11am with the last session beginning at 11:30 am in the Human Resources Building training rooms.
November 16, 2011 from 1pm -3:30pm –Long Term Disability information sessions every 30 minutes – with the first session starting at 1pm with the last session beginning at 3:00 pm in the Reitz Union in room 346.
Registration is not required for these sessions- so stop by to ask general questions or learn more about the plans.
