Supplemental Plans
Supplemental insurance plans are offered to provide coverage for dental and vision expenses; additional coverage for charges and deductibles related to hospitalization, intensive care, and cancer; and disability due to an accident or illness. Please refer to the company brochures for more details.
Domestic Partner Benefits
All benefits-eligible faculty and staff are eligible for domestic partner health insurance. It is available to both same- and opposite-sex partners as well as children of the employee and partner as long as the required criteria outlined on the affidavit is satisfied.

Flexible Spending Accounts
A medical reimbursement account is a way to set aside pre-tax dollars through payroll deduction to pay for certain eligible out-of-pocket medical expenses not covered by insurance. A few examples of these expenses include health and dental deductibles, co-payments, and eye glasses. This section covers medical and dependent care reimbursement, HSAs, and more.
Graduate Assistant Health Insurance (GatorGradCare)
University of Florida graduate students on an appointment as a graduate assistant, teaching assistant, or research assistant may participate in the GatorGradCare Health Plan beginning January 2007. To be eligible, University of Florida graduate students must be enrolled in a graduate degree program, on an appointment through University of Florida, appropriately registered and appointed 0.25 FTE (full-time equivalent) or greater for a particular semester.
Open Enrollment
Each year, Annual Open Enrollment gives employees an opportunity to take a look at their existing benefit plans to evaluate any anticipated needs and to make adjustments for the upcoming plan year.
This benefit is designed to assistant employees who have embraced children from the state of Florida’s system and made them a permanent part of their family. State employees who have adopted children from DCF may be eligible for a one-time stipend of $5,000 or $10,000 depending on the special needs of the child adopted. Awarded part-time employees will receive a prorated benefit based on their FTE status at the time of application. All employees must also hold a benefits-eligible position both at the time of application and time of award.
