Service Recognition Program

image of service pinsThe Service Recognition Program recognizes USPS and TEAMS employees with at least five years of continuous service. Pins are distributed on a bi-annual basis to departments by Human Resource Services and are awarded in five-year increments (5, 10, 15, etc.).

"Continuous service" starts from the most recent date of hire. If an employee leaves his or her position for any reason and is re-hired, his or her continuous service is recalculated from the most recent hire date. Thus, an employee who works for five years without a break in service will receive a five-year pin. If the employee has a break in service and returns to work for five more continuous years, he or she will receive another five-year pin, not a ten-year pin. A "break in service" is defined as a break of more than 180 days not covered by approved leave.
